Signals

pipelinecli

Tell now includes a workspace-scoped pub/sub system. Transformers and plugins emit typed signals when something notable happens. Any number of subscribers can listen, filter, and act on them — from the CLI, browser, or scripts.

Built-in signals today:

  • ip.banned / ip.unbanned — an IP crossed your failure threshold
  • pattern.new — a new recurring log structure was discovered
  • threshold.crossed — event volume exceeded your configured window

Plugins can emit any signal kind they choose — the source is tagged with the plugin name automatically.

Subscribe with tell signals. Filter by kind (--kind ip.*) or source (--source transform:jail:*). Add --json to pipe to scripts, webhooks, or alerting. From the browser, subscribe over Server-Sent Events with the same filters.

New: Multi-server auth

Register multiple Tell servers and switch between them without re-entering credentials.

  • tell login https://prod.acme.com — registers, authenticates, makes it active
  • tell login prod — switches instantly, no password prompt if your token is valid
  • tell workspace use 2 — sets the default workspace for the active server

Also in this update

  • The API server now binds to localhost by default — safer out of the box
  • Plugins auto-fix file ownership when installed as root
  • Cumulative totals now shown alongside per-second rates in metrics output
